At To The Rescue, we offer a large variety of services, some that most likely you don’t even know about. Bookkeeping may sound like a simple, singular service, that doesn’t encompass any other services, but that’s a misconception! Sales Tax Reporting


Sales tax is a tax imposed by state and local jurisdictions on retailers for the privilege of selling tangible personal property (TPP) in that jurisdiction. Forty five states, plus the District of Columbia, impose a sales tax  on retail sales of TPP and certain services. The responsibility of collection of the sales tax is generally borne by the seller, if the seller has the minimum connection necessary with the state to require the seller to collect and remit the tax. If the seller does not have the minimum connection necessary to require it to charge sales tax, the purchaser must self remit the use tax. The use tax is a complementary tax imposed on the ultimate consumer of the tangible personal property, which is not subject to sales tax, but is stored, used, or consumed in the state of the purchaser.


Make sense? Not really, huh? It’s confusing stuff! So why take the risk of reporting something as important as taxes incorrectly, when we can do it for you?!?


Sales tax filing and remitting requirements can vary by state. The frequency can be monthly, quarterly, semi- annually or annually. Additionally, some states may require a prepayment or estimated payment before the due date for the return, so it’s important to be up to date and in the know about how to file correctly!
